About Zoroaster sp. YZ-2022

The sea star Zoroaster sp. YZ-2022 is a species in the family Zoroasteridae, occurring exclusively in the deep sea. They have five long, skinny arms and very small central discs, giving them a very distinctive appearance. The observed one is frequently pale yellow or white in coloration, sometimes with spiny projections on the aboral surface.
